Detachment (Part 2): The importance of Emotional Detachment in Life
Detachment or Emotional Detachment means the eternal state of calmness. It is the ability to keep yourself away from the effect of external circumstances that conflict with your internal piece.
Today everyone is so busy that he does not have time to pause and think when something bad happens in life. In other words, everyone is so attached to the external things that he can easily get hurt when something is not happened as intended. Out all our happiness can be easily flown away with one instant damaged thought.
What is your instant reaction when you found yourself in trouble?
How do you react when you suddenly found yourself in trouble?
I can hear your words, “Oh god, not again” or “Oh no, Why always me”.
My friend, it is not always you. Everyone is getting good and bad phase but some are better to deal with the situations. You must have seen a lot of people who always seems to be normal no matter what happens to them. They take it easy.
They are not so much emotionally attached to the things. They do not let external circumstances affect them internally. It does not mean that they are not having heart or they are feeling less. But they have detached themselves from the effect of the circumstances that restrict the way of your thinking.
If you have already read the “Detachment (Part 1)” you know the precisely that what is detachment:
Detachment means “detached observer” of the circumstances.
Whenever we meet some crisis, most of us immediately react to fix it. This immediate reaction actually locks the power of mind to think creatively.
Take a pause and then reflect. It is important to observe the situation first and respond accordingly. Detachment helps you to achieve that.
Example to understand The Importance of Emotional Detachment:
When you go to doctor and tell what your illness is, does he give you instant treatment? No matter how serious the problem is, he analyze first. Without analyzing, the treatment could be harmful rather than beneficial. He suggests further treatment if he is still not sure about the illness. Thus Doctor takes time to check proper and then depending upon the kind of illness, he treats his patient.
In the same way, when trouble strikes you, do not strike it back.
Keep calm inside. Catch it. Place it in-front of you. Analyze thoroughly but do not get affected by its effect. Try. You will be better to deal with everything in this way in life.
Example: How detachment works:
Do you remember anytime when you caught yourself in depression? Nothing seems to work. You go to your friend for suggestion and got some feasible solution.
How he was able to think better solution while you are most familiar with the problem?
It is detachment. You were so attached to the effect of problem but he was not. Thus, if you practice detachment, it makes your life better. Detachment is not for the some great people, but it is for every common man. It helps in every problem you deal with in everyday’s life.
I would like to end the story by some nice lines said by Wayne dyer, one of the great motivational authors:
“Softly and kindly remind yourself, ‘I cannot own anything.’ It is a valuable thought to keep in mind as you struggle to improve your financial picture, worry about investments, and plan how to acquire more and more. It is a universal principle which you are part of. You must release everything when you truly awaken. Are you letting your life go by in frustration and worry over not having enough? If so, relax and remember that you only get what you have for a short period of time. When you awaken you will see the folly of being attached to anything.”
