Work on Hourly Basis, Be more Productive
Productivity is not about how long you work, it is about how much you work. In other words, it is not about how many hours you work; it is about how much you work in an hour.
If you are an office guy, you could have seen some people not only work but also enjoy in their office time in the same 8 hours. Some keeps working all the time and still not able to produce results as expected.
There is not a single formula to become more productive. It is a combination of setting priorities, managing time, setting deadlines, and focusing only on work when you work.
But today we will focus on the idea to:
“Work on Hourly Basis”
Let us see, how to manage our day’s work on hourly basis to get done more.
How mind works faster:
Have you ever felt that your mind works faster when you have less time to do the things? I have achieved more in the scenario when I know that I have only an hour to do these things. I am not talking about the negative pressure; it is about giving positive pressure to the mind.
Take an example, suppose you are working on a task you know is doable in 2 hour. But you have assigned whole day to get this job done. If you do not set a deadline in your mind, I bet you are going to take whole day to do that job.
One more example, suppose you have given a task. With your experience you know it will take 2 days to accomplish that task. But next day you are going to vacation, so you need to finish it today. The chances are you will do it by today.
How? It is all about mastering your mind. It is about how you give instructions to your mind.
So you have seen how things work as per our mindset.
To improve the productivity, start giving instructions to your mind on hourly basis rather than daily basis. You can achieve more in hourly basis than in daily basis. Even you don’t need to work all 8 hours. If you manage well, you can use couple of hours from them in experiments, self growth or having some fun as well.
What is Hourly basis Approach?
Divide your day’s task into hours. Set what you want to achieve in the next hour. It is hard to focus 8 hours straight but you can focus hour by hour. Evaluate yourself after each hour so that you know where you are going. In that way you don’t need to be panic at the end of the day. By then you already know you are on track or not. And the good news is you will be on the track.
There is one more way you may find it very useful. There are some of us who feel sleepy throughout the day. Sometimes it becomes a very long day to pass, especially if you don’t have much work to do today. But do not worry. Hourly basis approach will not let you throw your day waste. You have to plan for each of your hour. If you do not have that much work, try spending some hour reading on your favourite subject. Try reading motivational and self help articles, keep growing. Try to plan something for weekend. Join others with coffee and share your hourly basis approach. Share each other hourly reports. It will be fun. It will be more productive than your think.
Beat Negative Pressure from Positive Pressure:
When you have pressure of work by someone in your team or your manager, I will call it negative pressure. And if you set deadlines in your mind to do certain things, the pressure comes from inside of you; I will call it Positive Pressure. So now rather than beaten by negative work pressure beat it by your positive pressure.
Give it a shot. Try it for a week. You will see tremendous results.
“Now you have 8 pieces of “1-hour” rather than just 1 day to accomplish your tasks.”
